With its location between the Wye Valley are and the Vale of Leadon it is the perfect base to enjoy typical English countryside at its best and is one of the few remaining ancient forests. Discover this magical borderland fought over for centuries by the English and the Welsh.
Sunday 28 March
We depart our local area calling in Worcester for an extended lunch break. After lunch we continue to The Royal Forest of Dean for 4 nights half board accommodation at the Bells Hotel and Golf Club, Coleford.
Monday 29 March
A leisurely day as we head south into the Wye Valley to enjoy the daffodil displays, we continue via Tintern Abbey to the ancient Welsh border town of Chepstow. Here we have free time to explore this historic walled town with its imposing castle overlooking the River Wye. In the afternoon we travel through the Dean Forest to the Dean Heritage Centre, the Museum of the Forest comprises of 5 galleries which explore the history of the Forest from the Ice Age to the present day.
Tuesday 30 March
A day into Wales and the border town of Monmouth, perhaps best known as the birthplace of Henry V. We head later into the Brecon Beacons with a stop at Hay on Wye famous for its many bookshops.
Wednesday, 31 March
We travel eastwards to the Cathedral City of Gloucester with free time to visit the National Inland Waterways Museum, followed by a visit to Ross on Wye with its impressive 17th century Market Hall and Tudor timbered houses.
Thursday 1 April
Depart after breakfast, calling at the picturesque town of Ludlow. Arrive home early evening.

YOUR HOTEL
The BELLS HOTEL is situated in the unspoilt Forest of Dean within walking distance of the small town of Coleford. The hotel is surrounded by its own 18 hole golf course and guests are welcome to play a round at preferential rates. All the bedrooms are en suite with colour TV, hairdryer, telephone, radio alarm and tea making facilities. The food served is home-made using fresh local produce where possible. There is no lift but some ground floor rooms are available.
