We return to the Bells Hotel Coleford, the perfect base for a tour of the Forest of Dean and the surrounding countryside. Our itinerary features a guided tour of Gloucester Cathedral, the Big Pit Coal Museum, a rail journey on the Dean Forest Railway with cream tea and a relaxing cruise through the Wye Valley.
The 3 star Bells Hotel is situated in the Forest of Dean, within walking distance of Coleford. The hotel is surrounded by its own 18 hole golf course. All bedrooms are en suite with TV, telephone, tea making facilities, hairdryer and Wi-Fi. There is no lift but ground floor rooms are available.
We travel to the beautiful city of Worcester for a break before continuing to Coleford for 4 nights half board accommodation at the Bells Hotel.
A circular tour through the Forest of Dean taking us via Lydney, Chepstow and the magnificent Tintern Abbey where we pause for a break. We continue to Monmouth for some free time before we join Kingfisher Cruises for a relaxing boat trip through spectacular stretches of the Wye Valley. Tea and biscuits will be served during the cruise.
A taste of Wales today as we head for the market town of Abergavenny known as the 'Gateway to Wales'. Browse the traditional market before we visit the Big Pit National Coal Museum. Enjoy a multimedia tour of a modern coal mine with a virtual miner, see exhibitions that tell the story of coal in Wales.
Gloucester is our destination today and we begin with a guided tour of the medieval cathedral. There will be free time to explore before we enjoy a journey on the Dean Forest Railway, taking in the woodland scenery as we go.
We depart returning via the medieval market town of Ludlow, before arriving home early evening.
